Concert 2 – St. Jans Church Maastricht

Date: Friday 09 August 2019 Time: 20.00 Price: € 25,- Location: St. Jans Church, Maastricht

From spirits, graves, fire, jokes and cloud poems…

Eight Orlando musicians present a varied program of compelling and passionate 19th century chamber music from four countries. Beethoven’s famous ‘Ghost Trio’ and a flashy quartet by Mendelssohn are preceded by three unique solo works for harmonium, a special instrument, which is now not used as a ‘psalm pump’, but to play witty, sad and exciting music (a ‘cloud poem’).

Alexandre Guilmant (1837-1911) Scherzo op.31 (1892)
Bror Beckman (1866-1929) Wolkengedichte, op.17 nr.3 (1910)
Franz Liszt (1811-1886) Am Grabe Richard Wagners (1883)
Dirk Luijmes harmonium

Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) Trio opus 70 no.1, in D ‘Ghost Trio’ (1808)
Osiris Trio: Peter Brunt violin, Larissa Groeneveld violoncello, Ellen Corver piano

Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809-1847) Quartet nr.5, op.44 nr.3 in E-flat (1838)
Rusquartet: Xenia Gamaris violin, Anna Yanchishina violin, Ksenia Zhuleva viola, Peter Karetnikov violoncello
