Classic Orlando!

Every Orlando Festival music of Bach is performed, with at least one solo concert, in a small single line-up, and a chamber music piece.  James Austin Smith will be taking his oboe d’amore with him this year, and apart from Bach, Mozart also benefits from that. From him we hear the only work that has been deliberately repeated on the program for 4 years now, the wonderful Adagio.  In recent years double bass player Toby Hughes has already enraptured the audience with his expressive playing. Now you can hear him in the demanding concert studies of central composer Hans Kox. Rusquartet plays Shostakovich’s sad and at the same time comforting eleventh quartet, in memoriam Vassili Shirinsky, second violinist of Shostakovich’s favourite string quartet, the Beethoven Quartet.
