Concert 10 – St. Jans Church Maastricht

Date: Friday 16 August 2019 Time: 20.00 Price: € 25,- Location: St. Jans Church, Maastricht

Glorious romance and intimate expressionism from a century ago

Orlando traditionally concludes with arrangements of symphonic orchestral repertoire, performed by Gruppo Montebello, the ‘all-star band’ of conductor Henk Guittart. Unlike Orlando’s usual diversity, the focus is now on a ‘golden decade’ from 1908 to 1918. Besides enjoying the award-winning soprano Anna Lucia Richter, it is a unique opportunity to hear the monumental Reger violin concerto. This beautiful work has not been performed in our country for thirty years. And the version of Psalm 23 in this format not for forty years.

Alexander Zemlinsky (1871-1942) Psalm 23, op.14 (1910) (arr. Erwin Stein, 1921)

Anton Webern (1883-1945)  Zwei Lieder op.8 (1910)

Anton Webern Vier Lieder op.13 (1914-1918)

Alban Berg (1885-1935) Sieben frühe Lieder (1908/1928) (arr. H. Guittart, 2019)

Max Reger (1871-1918) Violin concerto op.101 (1908) (arr. Rudolf Kolisch, 1921)
