Gruppo Montebello with Theatre Choir Opera Zuid
Since 2011 I have been working on my long-term project with Gruppo Montebello (founded in Canada in the Rocky Mountains and moved to Rolduc in 2015) to perform the original arrangements of symphonic works for small ensemble from the archives of the Vienna Association for Musical Privataufführungen and to record them for CD. These performances often happen in versions I revised. Later arrangements inspired by the Verein are also on the repertoire list, as well as brand new arrangements, such as my arrangements of Mahler’s Lied von der Erde and Webern’s Passacaglia op.1 last year.
The program of 2019 completes, just like last year’s collection of compositions from what I like to call the golden decade of music history (1908-1918), the original repertoire of arrangements, with the works of Zemlinsky and Reger.
With Berg’s Sieben frühe Lieder I will continue the tradition of new Verein arrangements and I hope to be able to work on a work that fits into this pattern in the years to come. For the Gruppo Montebello, if life permits, I have other plans and wishes for years to come!
